Good Samaritan Medical Center Achieves Healthgrades 5-Star Rating for Vaginal Delivery and C-Section Delivery

Aug 3, 2022

West Palm Beach, FL - August 2, 2022  – Good Samaritan Medical Center, part of the Palm Beach Health Network, is a 2022 5-Star recipient for Vaginal and C-Section Delivery, as recognized by Healthgrades, a leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients. This marks the 8th consecutive year that Good Samaritan Medical Center has achieved the 5-star distinction for Vaginal Delivery (2015-2022). These 5-star ratings indicate that Good Samaritan Medical Center’s clinical outcomes for Vaginal Delivery and C-Section Delivery are significantly better than expected, placing them among the national Vaginal and C-Section Delivery leaders.

“We are committed to delivering high-quality care to every patient who walks through our doors, and we take a family friendly approach to the care we provide, said Chief Executive Officer of Good Samaritan Medical Center, Sheri Montgomery.  “Receiving these designations from Healthgrades is a testament to the special care we are providing to newborns and their families.

Healthgrades analyzed all-payer data for 16 states from 2018 through 2020. Healthgrades found that there is a significant variation in hospital quality between those that have received 5 stars and those that have not. For example, from 2018 through 2020, patients having a C-Section Delivery  in hospitals rated 5 stars have, on average, a 60.4% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated by hospitals rated 1 star.*

In addition to its focus on quality and safety, Good Samaritan Medical Center is a partner with iconic resort wear brand, Lilly Pulitzer, creating the ultimate Palm Beach experience with the design of its new Lilly Pulitzer Birthing Suites and family waiting room. The two VIP suites are redesigned with the signature Lilly Pulitzer aesthetic, to give new moms and their families a joyful and luxurious feel when they deliver their babies. The suites art and design elements have all been donated by Lilly Pulitzer. Good Samaritan Medical Center also has an on-site Level II NICU which is staffed with the specialists babies may need if intensive care is required. The entire NICU health care team works to provide some of the best care for sick or at-risk newborns, while they foster bonding with the baby. If a newborn needs special care, the NICU is located within our Birthing Center so that parents are never far away.

“It is critical for patients to select care based on three key pieces of information – hospital quality, facility and care team experience with your condition/procedure, and compatibility – and this 5-star distinction is another benchmark to help make those decisions easier,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and head of Data Science, Healthgrades. “We are proud to name Good Samaritan Medical Center as a 2022 5-Star recipient for Vaginal and C-Section Delivery and look forward to their continued efforts to deliver better clinical outcomes for patients during natural childbirth, C-section deliveries, and gynecologic procedures.”
