We take a “family first” approach to the care we provide you. We welcome your feedback and are open to your ideal “birth plan.” Our goal is to make the experience everything you hoped it would be. We honor a variety of birth plans with approval from the obstetrician or midwife. You and your baby’s needs will always remain our top priority.

Our OB-GYN specialists and experienced delivery staff are ready to serve you with warmth and understanding, as well as the expertise, technical skill, and clinical judgment that are vital to a positive delivery experience. At the Birthing Center we offer:

Good Samaritan Medical Center is proud to be one of only 19 hospitals in the state of Florida to achieve a C-section rate below 23.9% for first time mothers with low risk pregnancies. Each year, about 4 million babies are born in the United States. Florida’s C-section rate for 2017 was 37.2 percent, while the Healthy People 2020 goal is 23.9 percent. At Good Sam, we understand the importance of reducing unnecessary C-sections and focus on improving maternal and child health outcomes.

Lactation Support

Breastfeeding encourages close contact between mother and baby. Good Sam has board-certified, in-house lactation consultants to give new mothers the proper guidance and support that they need to be successful with breastfeeding. Our lactation consultants can help with:

  • Engorgement of the breasts
  • Breastfeeding twins
  • How to use a breast pump

Before Baby Arrives

During Your Stay

When you arrive at Good Samaritan Medical Center in labor, you can settle into a comfortably prepared, private delivery room that is equipped for all four stages — labor, delivery, recovery and post-partum. Your bed will be fully adjustable and a reclining couch is available for your partner, friend or family member. Other amenities include language services and a private bathroom and shower. Our skilled nurses and neonatologists use the most advanced technology to care for you and your baby.

Postpartum Support

After delivery, we want to give you and your baby the attention you need while respecting your privacy. Our certified lactation consultant is available if you choose to breastfeed. We have several resources including in-patient consultation to make sure you and your baby are healthy.
