Good Samaritan Medical Center receives accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (CoC) for their commitment to care at their comprehensive cancer institute.   Good Samaritan Medical Center has received this accreditation since 1994.  The Commission on Cancer is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard setting, prevention, research, education, and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.

“Our patients deserve access to safe, high quality oncology care, and they place a high value on information about how we rank against our peers to evaluate their choices for their healthcare,” said Sheri Montgomery, chief executive officer for Good Samaritan Medical Center.  “Our dedication to quality and safety are evident in this latest designation, and it is a testament to the commitment of our entire team, as is the health and well-being of our community.”

The CoC membership is composed of more than 100 individuals who either are surgeons representing the American College of Surgeons or representatives from the national professional organizations who are member organizations affiliated with the CoC. These individuals direct and coordinate the activities of the Commission through the Executive, Nominating, Accreditation, Advocacy, Cancer Liaison, Education, Member Organization Steering, and Quality Integration committees and related subcommittees and workgroups.
