Hospitalists, relatively new in health care, are physician specialists who care for patients only in the hospital.
Through the Hospitalist Program at Good Samaritan, a hospitalist may provide your inpatient care at your own doctor's request. All hospitalists at Good Samaritan are board-certified internal medicine specialists. The hospitalist will direct all your care, acting as a partner with your physician. Always on-campus, hospitalists are able to rapidly respond in case of problems. By sharing all information about your care with your doctor, hospitalists ensure that you benefit from a continuum of care when you are discharged and return to your own doctor.
Hospitalists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Each hospitalist works as part of the team that cares for you. To learn more about hospitalists, ask your own physician.
