After much preparation this summer, the cries of newborn babies are being heard at Good Samaritan Medical Center again. The hospital reestablished its “Special Deliveries” maternity services on the second floor. The Special Deliveries Department was recently renovated to provide expectant mothers with a warm and comforting atmosphere during their stay. Designed with some of the latest in obstetrical technology, including fetal monitoring and a bed specifically designed to help ease delivery, the delivery suites include a sleeping chair for the mother’s support person, a TV and VCR as well as a private bathroom and shower. For peace of mind a Level II nursery is available.
Special Deliveries at GSMC offers:
- Private Labor/Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum Suites
- Level II neonatal intensive care unit
- 24-hour anesthesia services
- Clinical Nurse Specialists and Managers
- Cesarean Operative Suites
- Natural Birth Options and Support
- Childbirth and Parenting Education Program
- Breastfeeding Support
Pat Jamason, RN, director of maternity services at GSMC, said she is thrilled to be able to once again offer maternity services to the community. “The staff has worked long and hard to get the unit up and running and create a comfortable, homelike atmosphere for expectant parents,” said Jamason. “We are pleased with the renovations and everything is new, from the equipment to the beds and furnishing.”
